The gate is a lie.

Greetings, fellow humans! This week, I have mostly been painting my Realmgates.

They’re not quite finished, but there’s not much left for me to do with them. Duncan’s Baleful Realmgate and Ophidian Archway videos were very helpful in getting these done; so hats off to the man! I followed the Realmgate steps, substituting in the Archway colours, then painted the murals (in Warplock Bronze, then an Agrax wash and a Brass Scorpion drybrush) and finally picked out all of the details and other colours afterwards (which I still need to wash and drybrush).

The Ironjawz one has been the more straightforward of the two, as there were only a few green bits (painted the same way as my Orruks’ armour) and silver bits. The Moonclan one has been a bit more involved, as there was a fair amount of purple (painted the same way as my Grots’ robes), some yellow Moons, some silver bits and a few other colours (wooden beams, mushroom stalks and Dwarf shields).

After finishing the details, all that’s left to do are the portals themselves – which I’ll be painting with the same kind of ethereal green Waaagh! energy/magic effect that I used on Dim The Enchanter.

They’ve taken me a fair amount of time to do over the course of several evenings, but I’m pleased with how they’ve turned out so far, and look forward to seeing them on the board and using them in our games. Once they’re finished, I need to package them up safely with the Boneyard terrain and send them over to the Aaronorium.

We just need to see if Royal Mail can (literlly) deliver…
