Greetings, fellow humans! This month, I have mostly been finishing off some Bad Moon Boyz. As is tradition, I thought it would be a good idea to see how I fared against my pledges from last year’s hobby roundup.

My goal for last year was to finish off all of my Ironjawz models (which I didn’t touch); clear my backlog of 40k Ork Boyz (which I mostly did for my Bad Moons); paint up a retro Snakebite Kill Team (which I assembled but didn’t paint); and paint up a new Age of Sigmar Chaos army (which I definitely did). The new Chaos army took up the majority of my hobby time, so I’ve got plenty to show for that at least.

As with the year before, I still painted over a hundred models in total last year, which I’m very pleased with. Some things that weren’t on my initial plan included some Bad Moon Lootas and Nobz, some Deathskull Grots, some Evil Sunz characters, my Rogue Idol and a few more Squig Hoppers.

Next year, my (hopefully more achievable) goal is to finish off my currently assembled Ironjawz models (about 20 models); finish off my Bad Moons (about 30 models); clear my backlog of 40k Ork Troops (about 40 Evil Sunz Boyz, 20 Deathskulls Boyz and 20 Deathskulls Grots); paint up a retro Kill Team (Snakebites); and also make a start on a new terrain project…

The two large boxes underneath also contain terrain kits, but what could they be?

Unfortunately, after commenting last month about how I like that my Evil Sunz characters (on their 32mm bases) stand out from my Boyz (on their 25mm bases), I learnt that for my new friendly local gaming store requires that all models need to be based on their correct current base size (rather than the base size that they were supplied with). Forge World models aren’t allowed either, which sadly means that nearly 7,000 points worth of my Orks are ‘unusable’ in store.

With my local club closed indefinitely due to the pandemic, my only gaming option at the moment is at home. I donated all of my assembled/painted terrain to my local club and/or the Aaronorium a long time ago however, so I need something new. In the long-term I’m hoping to get enough terrain painted for both AoS and 40k, but initially I’ll be concentrating on 40k. With me playing several clans of Orks, I’ll be aiming for a desert scrapyard/Gorkamorka-vibe, and hoping to end up with several Orky buildings by the end of the year. Watch this space!

I also thought it would be fun to join in with White Dwarf’s 2021 Hobby Bingo (#WhiteDwarf, #PaintingWarhammer, #WarhammerCommunity), so in my next post I’ll let you know how I’ve fared this month. Technically I painted five of my Bad Moon Shoota Boyz this month, but for the purposes of 2021 Hobby Bingo I’ll start counting from now on…

    1. Cheers. I’m disappointed, but it’s their decision so I’ll have to stick by it if I play there.

On the other hand I’ve got plenty of ‘correctly’ based Evil Sunz to be painted in the future, so I can always use them..
